At Vertical Foods, food safety is priority one
Our food safety programs are assured through inÂhouse and thirdÂparty auditors that follow recognized policies and procedures to ensure the safest product possible. Our growers have implemented Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) based on the guidelines designed by FDA and USDA* to produce safe products and eliminate potential for product contamination. At the beginning of each growing season, the ranch and field locations are assessed to ensure they are acceptable for the products grown. These Good Agricultural Practices are verified through the use of recognized third party audits. As our name indicates, we are vertically integrated. This allows us to select and ensure we have control of the growers who provide our products. We know the history of the land and what was done to produce and harvest the crop. Additionally, the commodities we provide are packed in compliance to accepted Good Manufacturing Practices. In addition to the field audits, all commodities that we produce and pack are audited by a recognized third party certifier. We are currently building our Organic Program with Organic Growers for figs, plums, and kiwifruit. In the future we plan on growing our organic program; including our own persimmons, and apricots.
